The Third Delay: Receiving Quality Care

Lack of reliable electricity in health facilities and operating rooms

Ugandan health facilities--like many other places in the world--suffer form severe shortages in trained healthcare providers, supplies, and essential medications. Safe Mothers, Safe Babies works with communities to identify these types of challenges by developing simple, cost-effective solutions to addressing them--supporting the use of solar electricity during nighttime deliveries, surgeries, and treatments; the infusion of low-cost supplies and equipment;  continuing medical education for healthcare professionals; and work to research and improve access to surgical care, particularly for mothers and young children.
